The day we arrived!

It was quite a long journey for all of us, but we all finally made it to Italy and joined up with our wonderful Italian student hosts, who quickly made us feel right at home! After getting settled, one of the Italian students, Elisa, drove us to the city center of Padova for a walking tour and brought us to her favorite place to get the much anticipated Italian gelato. We were all quite jet lagged, so after spending some time walking around we all went back to our host homes to get an early night and prepare for the upcoming 2 weeks filled with lectures, labs, and day trips! We are expected to meet the rest of the Italian and American students tomorrow at the "bar" on campus (what they call the cafe) before starting our day of lectures on animal welfare and risk assessment in the morning and prevention of food contamination and methods of decontamination in the afternoon! Until then, time to rest up!
